Hobbits

Today was a great day. One of the best days in fact. It was the day I visited Hobbiton.

The location of filming for The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit. It has long been a dream of mine to visit the set and see the hobbit holes for myself.

It exceeded all my expectations. The weather was fine, the sun warmed the air and the animals were out. The detail of the whole place was outstnading. From the washing hanging on the line to food on the tables.

There is a great deal to see and the guide explained about how much work that went into making the set. The movie set is built on a hill, because the more important a hobbit is the higher up the hill the hobbit will live. So at the bottom of the hill are the modest hobbit holes where the likes of Sam Wise live. As you climb to the top of the hill, the hobbit holes get bigger until you reach the grandest of them all. The home of Bilbo Baggins.

Walking around hobbiton is thristy wrok especially when the sun is hot. So I headed to the Green Drangon for a wet.

What a wonderful day.
