The Secular Dictatorships in the Middle East Fallacy

One of the biggest fallacies being made about the Middle East is that Saddam Hussein and Gaddafi were “secular dictatorships”
this fallacy is made repeatedly by folks like Rand Paul and Benjamin Netanyahu — בנימין נתניהו.

Secular dictatorships compared to who? ISIS?

Al Qaeda is Secular compared to ISIS.

By the same standards, the Muslim Brotherhood is Secular because it’s not throwing gays out of rooftops (yet)

Saddam Hussein was the one who put “Allahu Akbar” in the Iraqi flag and started the Faith campaign الحملة الايمانية

“l-Hamlah al-Imaniyah), often referred to simply as the Faith Campaign, was a campaign conducted by the Iraqi Ba’ath Party, beginning in 1993, to pursue a more socially conservative and overtly Islamist agenda. The campaign involved a variety of policies, including greater freedoms being granted to Islamist groups, greater resources being put into religious programmes, increased use of Islamic punishments, and a more general greater emphasis being put on Islam in all sectors of Iraqi life”

So much for Secularism.

What Secular dictatorships are they talking about?
