Milling rice is done to remove the husk and bran layers of raw rice for white whole grains. This rice is milled sufficiently free of impurities and
contains minimal broken grains.
Rice huller machine is used to separate the shell (straw) of rice grains. Built for this purpose are known as Engelberg Huller machine has been developed in Brazil, and is widely used in Nigeria business. The machine uses steel rollers to remove the shell.
There are three types hullers according to their power consumption: mechanical shellers running on gasoline, electric rotary Huller and hullers that can use multiple sources of power.

After rice was harvested and dried, it must be separated from other wastes. Large mechanical separators and filter sieve rice.
The husk layer is removed from the shell due to friction, and this process is called de-husking or de-hulling.
Types of husking machines:
The husk is removed and bleached rice in a single pass. Paddy isfed between the rotating steel shaft and the cylindrical meshed screen. These machines

This machine has two grinding wheels steel liner. The upper disc is stationary while paddy flows from a centrally located hopper between the surfaces
of the revolving lower disc and stationary upper disc. The resistance between the emery surfaces removes the husk leaving brown rice kernel.
This is an economic machine that produces a moderate amount of broken grains with a hulling efficiency of 85 to 90%.
There are two rubber rollers (the same diameter), as the name implies, are run at different speeds to remove shells. One roller has a fixed position
and the other can be adjusted to meet the desired clearance. The adjustable shaft rotates slightly slower than the fixed roller. The machine has a suction
at the bottom, to separate from the shell of brown rice.
This method has a high efficiency such as 85 to 90% with a minimum of broken grain.
Huller Output is a mixture of paddy rice, brown rice, husk and broken paddy. The paddy separators operate using differences in density, buoyancy and size
between the paddy brown rice.
Rice polishing process (less pressure and is suitable for large grains) and friction (nestle together by applying more pressure on seed) is classified as
an abrasive. Then get white rice, regardless of the process.
The fifth and final packaging process, in which a good rice rice mill will produce 50–60% of the head rice (whole grain), 5–10% of large broken and
10–15% small broken grains. It is a complete and bagged ready for transportation.
