There are many bits and pieces that make us similar to others. Our degrees and skills, likes and dislikes, are good examples.

And sure, there are bits and pieces that make each and every one of us unique. Our DNA and our fingerprints are two good examples.

When it comes to distinguishing ourselves from others with similar education and skills, the process of personal branding comes into play. This process is also used to gain credibility or show knowledge in your field of interest.

Whether or not you set out intentionally to work on your personal brand, you have one.

Thinks about this:

  • Who is the one person you know that you would call for restaurant recommendations or book recommendations?
  • Who is the person at the office you would email for all your excel problems?
  • Who is your go-to for anything fun, but you would not consider if you really need to get stuff done fast?

Your personal brand is made up of what you do and also who you are. To begin being intentional with your brand, there are three steps you can take.
