League Of Legend

Introduction

My name is Faith Moua, I have one little sister and soon to baby brother due in July 6th. I come from a family that is very strict about education, my mother always told me “You can do whatever and have anything you want but do not let things out of school affect you grades because since your getting older school is going to be more harder so focus more on your book and less of games.” those are words I kept in my mind forever because when I was younger I was really into video games, such as the big game system like the Xbox and the PlayStation but I am more on the xbox side but since I got older I looked less into games then moved on forward into getting a job, focusing on my school work and staying on my iPhone constantly on social media. I was mainly on Facebook and Instagram because I really loved taking pictures and posting things online and communicating with old friends so I barely had time to just sit on a hourly time to just play games because I was so busy with other things plus having a phone made me more organized in my life but when playing games it had me really not focusing on my school work and other things that were happening in my life. My interest on why I choose League of Legend because I myself have connection to the gaming world but I never understand the concept of the computer used for gaming itself, so for me it would be a new challenge for me to learn something new about how people play games in a different type of way but instead of using a controller you us to play, you use bottoms on a computer with a mouse to control how you play. My preconceptions about my sub-culture was a bunch of young college students who play on their laptop yelling and screaming on a screen that doesn’t even have a headset any sort of communication to talk to other people about teamwork. These players either use two type of way to communication with webcam like skype or oovoo like video call type of website or those that know how to type extremely fast can just message to all teams on the text screen in the game, those are way teammates can communication since mainly people pay this game with friends to still create a friendship connection from distance friendship from main responses that I heard during my interview.

Two turrets are placed along the length of each lane, and the nexus is defended by a single turret. Teams are composed of three champions apiece, and each champion spawns with a substantial sum of gold. The reduced map size and accelerated level curve makes for a shorter game length and higher kill scores.

Season one began in July 13th 2010 with a total of 55 champions in the game that was in the game with a choices for players can play with either 5vs5 or 3vs3 this choices let players to choose on either if they want to play with this certain amount of players on each team. U&M League Of Legend Community
I was studying a gaming community that played a online computer game called League Of Legend, the club that was hosting this was at the University of Minnesota at the Bruininks in classroom 330 on the 2nd floor. When I first came there I had to find my own way there so having to GPS my way to the university, it was really stuggle, I had no clue where this building was because I never clearly got a chance to know all the building name on campus when I did a school visiting. The train I had to get off at was very easy to go off from because it is the most reliable transportation that didn’t cost as much, when it comes to traveling anywhere. It took about a good 35 or less minutes to get there then 10 minutes to walk across the bridge where you can see the Mississippi River.

( picture inside the bridge )
After crossing the bridge, I entered the building where I was suppose to meet my league of legend group to do my first info. session for my ethnography notes. Before I arrived there my phone instantly died once I got there, so for that I have no way to figure out what room I was actually suppose to be in because I didn’t understand the meet up session was going to be at but I knew exactly that this was the building my group was meeting at this Wednesday at 6 pm. Walking around hoping maybe to spot someone people in a classroom playing league would help me but I was clearly walking in a circle for a good 5 minutes, then for that moment my phone magically comes back on. I quickly call the host of the club to see what room and floor located, silly of me I passed that floor and room many times before so I was freaking out over nothing. Finally, getting to the room I quickly grab my lap top to be prepare what’s going to happen in this time where I will be observing this group for a certain amount of time. This group have a variety of diverts community, where there’s boys and girl and other race of color playing and enjoying this game. On that similar day I was going a interview of a couple of people both female and male in the club asking a similar question that was asked “What does League Of Legend symbolize to you?” in both of their response was very much the same is that, they can connect with people that are very far away because it is a way to keep in touch with that person and also get to interact in games that can build that sort of friendly connection still alive even if that person is far away. Plus it gives a great experiences in making more friends to play with online and also acknowledge teamwork so being able to have reliable friends who can play the game with you and have similar interest. When talking like normally with some of these club member they have some sort of reason why they love to participate in these clubs is because they can have fun with new people every day and enjoy going tournament that are competitive then play with people around the place. I learned how to play many things about league of legend by participating in watching couple tournaments, game plays, and a little game trial myself so I can understand how to play the game and get a good experiences.

The League of Legend club at the U&M is allowing all gender and none students to join and get a first experiences to understand this amazing world wide spread game to everyone who is into computer gaming. I think of joining this group myself because it is something I can really enjoy because it is something really fun to do with others around me who also have the same interest as me plus I can really have a good communication skills. The league of Legend club is looking to invite more people to come and try it out this game so people can just get a chance to know what this is about.
