Korean short-form rewards platform CELEBe announced today that it has surpassed 1 million Google downloads as of October. There are two versions of CELEBe, Asia and Global, and only the Asian version reached 1 million in a month and a half.

The reason for the quick 1 million downloads is due to a major update in mid-August this year that improved app performance and enhanced audience-specific services such as the ability to earn points in real time, as well as success in India and the Philippines.

“Due to the different social media cultures in each country, we have made differentiated preparations with a focus on localization, and as a result, we are receiving many collaboration proposals from various companies in Southeast Asia, and we have made significant progress with Grab, Lazada and 7-Eleven, etc.” said a representative from the CELEBe content team.

‘CELEBe’ is a short-form reward platform that rewards viewers for watching short-form videos in proportion to their viewing time, and is positioned as a new concept of short-form platform that returns revenue to viewers as well as creators who create content.

“Currently, we are only in the Philippines, India, and if we expand to other Southeast Asian countries, we believe we can reach 10 million downloads within this year,” said Taekhee Cho, Head of Global Team at CELEBe.

“In Thailand, even before we entered the market, a female creator’s video went viral on the Asian version and earned 2 million won in one day, and creators in the Philippines are creating royalties for CELEBe by making their own promotional videos.”
