I don’t even know where to begin to say this eloquently, but basically, mental health matters. Too many people have brushed it off as “it’ll go away” or “it’s just a phase” — no it won’t and no it’s not. If you keep getting headaches consistently and it’s crippling how you live day to day, are you just gonna brush it off as nothing? Or are you going to get it checked by doctors?

Same goes with mental health. If you keep feeling sad/anxious/unmotivated persistently, talk to someone about it. A friend, a family member or a doctor. I believe in God, so prayer helps heaps. But tangible measures still need to be done. Action speaks louder than words, it says so too in the Bible. I urge you to remember that mental health is important and needs to be taken care of — for yourself, for the people around you. Be mindful of what is going on around you. It might be happening to your sibling, your friend or even yourself.

It’s 2017, it’s time we talk about this openly because it’s been happening and it’s as real as physical health. So there, I said it. I hope more people are aware of the importance of this and no more of shoving this issue under the rug. Ignoring it will definitely not make it go away.

“To the world, you may be one person. But to one person, you may be the world” — B. Wilson.
