the internet is a scary place
my friend shared this link on facebook : https://williamhenryprince.com/2017/06/23/child-grooming-abduction-a-true-story/
growing up, internet was practically nonexistent in my life. we’ve had internet but it wasn’t as readily accessible as today. connection was slower than snail and the only “discussion” could only happen in forums- with mods and admins. these days, you have all kinds of social media where people from all over the world can interact as if they’re sitting right next to us. convenient, yes. but safe, not necessarily so.
that link talked about how a pedophile “grooms” a pre-teen girl for abduction and it just scares me to think about the possibilities of what could’ve happened. i don’t have a child but it makes me sick to my stomach just thinking about the possibility of raising a child with predators around.
the link is talking about the dangers of snapchat and that prompted me to think about how the generation before me won’t even know about what snapchat is — most of them, at least. and that’s what scary isn’t it? you not knowing what’s happening and the predators are out there preying on your beloved ones right under your nose this whole time…
but i still believe that if you have a good relationship and good communication with your loved ones, there’s still hope. it’s not a 100% guaranteed safety but you have to have a good base for this to work.
keep your loved ones close. don’t waste a day without telling them that they are loved and treasured.
