- German Football Association DFB partners with the new startup FANZONE Media to find new ways in digital fan engagement. FANZONE is going to produce and distribute Blockchain-based digital trading cards of Germany’s national team players.
- At fanzone.io, fans can collect, trade and play with those digital trading cards. Blockchain technology allows fans to truly own the digital cards in their accounts.

Berlin, Germany (March 2nd, 2021) — FANZONE Media enters into a licensing partnership with German Football Association (DFB) to bring blockchain-based digital trading cards with Germany’s best football players to a global fan base. The new FANZONE platform will launch in the second quarter, ahead of this year’s European Championship on the web as well as a mobile version in the Apple and Google app stores. The DFB-package includes the Men’s National Team “DIE Mannschaft”, the Women’s National Team and the Under-21 National Team as well as Germany’s 3. Liga and PAULE, the official mascot of the association.

Users will be able to collect and trade the digital cards of the DFB national players and use them in fantasy sports challenges. Blockchain technology enables the creation of limited digital objects, so-called non-fungible tokens (NFTs). These NFTs guarantee authenticity, rarity, ownership of the digital objects and their security. The advantage of these new digital assets is that digital goods are available on the blockchain for life and exist independently of apps and app stores. Fans therefore actually own their collections of rare trading cards and can benefit from possible increases in value.
