If you’re even a bit interested in games you probably know who these two giants are. For those who have heard the names for the first time, these are the two major companies that provide the best GPUs for your computer. But when it comes to choosing one out of the two, customers always find themselves in a dilemma.

We want to know which one is better so we won’t be getting into the details of the past and all the history these two giants have had with each other but instead, we’re going to dive straight into the current scenario with their latest processors and compare them both to find out which will be the best for you to invest your money in.

AMD vs NVIDIA: The Showdown

Gaming performance
Better GPUs have given game creators the ability to create more refined, more detailed, and more sophisticated games but when it comes to how well the GPU supports it and actually performs then NVIDIA is a clear winner. Multiple sources and performance studies have concluded that though AMD can provide you with budget GPUs along with NVIDIA, NVIDIA is a touch faster and uses a bit less power for roughly the same price and also it performs better than AMD.

Power consumption and efficiency
Focusing on the current generation GPUs, AMD Navi, and NVIDIA Turing GPU’s power and efficiency are really close. AMD edges out NVIDIA in the mainstream sector but when price and performance spectrum is taken into consideration NVIDIA emerges as the victor. A very crucial point that should be noted here is that NVIDIA still manages to outdo AMD even after using GPUs that are built using previous-generation lithography. But AMD is catching up by constantly improving with their RDNA 2.

Drivers and Software
The major difference between the two when it comes to driver and software is that NVIDIA uses two separate user interfaces. NVIDIA control panel handles things like resolutions and certain graphic settings, while GeForce Experience tackles game optimizations, driver updates, and other extra features including ShadowPlay, Ansel, and more. Whereas AMD’s unified driver approach is better than its counterpart’s split user interfaces. AMD's drivers have improved substantially and this sector hands us a draw.

Value proposition
No doubt AMD wins here because let’s face it, AMD has given us a competitive GPU that can go head to head with NVIDIA’s GPUs at far lesser prices. AMD’s mid-range GPUs have a huge impact on the market as being affordable is major criteria.

RESULT
As of now, NVIDIA dominates the show but there is one great side effect of having the pole position for such a long time and it is that the prices NVIDIA places on its GPUs are getting out of hand. They really need to keep the prices in check if they want to retain the number 1 spot because sooner or later, there will be someone who will offer us more than them at a comparatively cheaper rate.
