Find Happiness In The Chaos Of Life
We have to search for it amid chaos and confusion. But it’s worth the effort because happiness is what makes life worth living. It’s what gets us through tough times and helps us enjoy the good times even more.
When you’re reading this, I bet you’re thinking, Happiness? This lady is crazy! There’s no way to find real happiness in the world we live in now! Well, I’m going to tell you why that’s not the case — and why finding happiness can be the most important thing you do in your life. Happiness doesn’t have to be that hard to find, even when there are challenges around every corner.
The goal for all of us is to be happy, yet most don’t know what that means or how to achieve it. Many of us associate happiness with material things such as money, power, and status because we see others who appear happy with these things. Still, then we feel unfulfilled and empty inside when we have them ourselves — despite the new car, big house, or fancy clothes. Why aren’t we able to find happiness in all the things we’re told will make us happy?
In fact, oftentimes it’s the opposite. The more possessions you have, the more you have to worry about losing them. The higher up you are in your career, the more pressure you feel to perform well.
We all have different views of what happiness looks like, but maybe that’s the problem. Maybe we’re chasing after an idea of happiness instead of finding it. Does happiness exist, or is it merely a feeling? Is it a state of being? What comes and goes?
The idea that happiness comes from acquiring things- a new car, a bigger house, a promotion- is a mistake many people have made. Those who have ever gone on a shopping spree or won the lottery know that these things don’t last. Then what can? If material possessions cannot do it, what can?
What matters is how you feel about yourself and your life, not what you have. You can’t buy happiness. You have to find it on your own. Some call it the pursuit of happiness, which is not easy to find. It is normal to feel frustrated, sad, or tired from time to time in this life. We will also have times when we are happy, and those moments will remind us that life is worth living and every day brings something new and exciting. We should celebrate today because of that!
“The foolish man seeks happiness in the distance, the wise grows it under his feet”-James Oppenheim
As a starting point, we should examine our relationships. We find the most fulfilling moments in life are those we share with others, not just family and friends, but with strangers who bridge the gap between us and the world. We’ll move on to nature! In nature, happiness is accompanied by a sense of connection with something larger than ourselves.
It’s easy to get caught up in our own lives and problems and forget about the happiness of others. But studies have shown that being selfless and helping others can make us happier.
Here are some ways in which being happy can change your life;
- A sense of contentment and satisfaction.
- A more positive outlook on life.
- Increased levels of energy and vitality.
4. Improved physical health.
5. Greater overall well-being.
6. Better ability to cope with stressors in one’s life.
7. Reduced anxiety, depression, and feelings of isolation or loneliness
8. More resilience during difficult times
Happiness doesn’t have to come with a perfect life. In fact, some of the happiest people have faced some of the greatest challenges. People who have found happiness know that it is not a destination, but a journey. It takes work, but it is worth your effort. If you’re feeling lost or down, remember there is happiness out there for you.
“Happiness often sneaks in through a door you didn’t know you left open”-John Barrymore
