The denigration started in the mid-nineties when the consolidation of radio stations happened and you had corporations like Clear Channel buying hundreds of stations and centrally programming them.
It’s worse then you lead your readers to believe. While you mention Rhapsody losing $3m per month, when you refer to Spotify you position them as a player waiting for more funding. The reality is that Spotify lost nearly $200m last year and have burned through $1B and looking for another $500k to keep going.
