Today, I'm joining Amazon as a Software Development Engineer. Let me start by saying that I'm not from any of those tier 1 colleges( IITs/ NITs). Since my second year in college, I had been dreaming about joining a great company with a great working atmosphere (FAAMG). I have had people ask me "Isn't that too much to ask for?". I wouldn't lie. Those questions did get me to pause for a second and think, if whether I was over-ambitious. But, I never gave up on my dreams. In fact, I had always been that confident girl with big dreams. This was possible due to a few people who continuously believed in my abilities and of course the trust I put in myself.
So today, I just want to say that you should never ever think of giving up on your dreams because that's what makes you "YOU".
I had always got everything I wanted in life so easily and expected placements to be a cakewalk as well. I sat for one company after the other without much preparation expecting to clear the one that was destined for me. I slowly understood that this time I might not get it easily and I'll have to put in some work. Hence, I did. I remember doing 30 questions a day. Keeping myself away from all sorts of distractions and focusing thoroughly on the goal.
Before appearing for Amazon placements, I had sat for a number of companies. Came until the final round for a few. Thought I would get placed until the last moment, but didn't. Each time I failed, I understood what went wrong and prepared in that direction. You might fail multiple times on the way to success. I really don't know why "failure" is considered a negative word because failure is what led me to Amazon. As they say, good things take time. Don't lose your cool.
Also, getting placed in a good company is not the end. In fact, joining Amazon is just a beginning for me, a good one. I have a long way to go. More failures to encounter and much more to learn. Slowly building my empire, one step at a time. Excited much!
