“Volunteering at an animal shelter is not all about playing with puppies or bottle feeding the kitten.” says Farhan Khan, an animal rights activist based in Dallas, Texas. He has been volunteering at animal shelters since sixteen years of age and has done everything from walking dogs, assisting with fundraising events, to stuffing envelopes for educational mailing, etc.

According to Farhan, when you become a part of an animal protection organization, you join a network of thousands of people who strive to make the world safer & more humane for every living creature. On a personal level, he considers volunteering at an animal shelter a truly gratifying experience. As a keen observant, he has realized that one can never find a more grateful & accepting comrade than an animal they have comforted.

Farhan Khan is also associated with many NGOs in Dallas that are committed to spreading awareness about animal protection and responsible pet ownership. Describing how it feels to support a cause like animal welfare, he says, “Giving voice to creatures who cannot speak or stand up for themselves is one of the best feelings in the world. Spreading awareness about an issue that you deeply care about is wonderful. At the end of a day, I feel accomplished knowing that I have done something good.”
