City Palace, Udaipur — A 400-year-old palace’s architecture and interior.
The City Palace, which has a length of 224 metres and a height of 30 metres, is the largest palace in Rajasthan and the most popular place in Udaipur. With its beautifully decorated domes, towers, and balconies, the palace is a work of art.
The palace was first built during the reign of Udai Singh II, who also founded the city, but every Maharana expanded to it.
The City Palace is an extensive network of palaces constructed throughout the course of time starting from 1559.
Architecture of the City Palace
It is a magnificent architectural wonder made up of courtyards, pavilions, terraces, hallways, rooms, and hanging gardens that rises majestically above the lake on a hill enclosed by crenellated walls. The “Tripolia” triple-arched gate, which has eight marble porticos, serves as the principal entry.
Impressive Interior details of the City Palace
Green Royal meeting room with great carvings and inlay work decorated with opulent chandelier and hangings on the walls displays the taste of the Royal family.
These blue, China tiles were added by Maharana Jagat Singh II during his reign, i.e. between 1734–1751 CE.
