Bulletproof strategy to win at Product Huntđ„
I am an average guy in a 3rd world country who couldnât even code 10 months ago, but then somehow built a product from scratch, found investors and became #1 on PH. So if I did it, you can do too.
The strategy I will share takes lots of effort and weeks of preparation, so make sure you actually need this. And before I start, here is our winning product in case you are curious: https://www.justbeepit.com/
đ§ Stage 1 â Preparation
- Create a coming soon (teaser) page on Product Hunt
- Create an empty spreadsheet
đStage 2 â Finding Active Users
- Browse PH community to find active users
- Browser Linkedin Groups to find active PH users
đStage 3 â Invite to coming soon page
- Once you start finding active PH users, connect and message them on Linkedin (Yes! Linkedin! Not twitter, Instagram or anything else, Linkedin is the best tool for this)
- Every time , a person replies and agrees to subscribe to your coming soon page and to support you on the day of the launch, make sure to add that person with their name and social link to a spreadsheet
đ«Stage 4 â Just Keep Doing It
You need your spreadsheet to have at least 1500 people. The more the better. That is why you need to start doing this 4 weeks before your launch. And it is best if you have multiple Linkedin accounts (at least 4) or if you have teammates, each one should have one Linkedin Account.
đStage 5 â Before the launch
On the day of the launch our coming soon page had 500 subscribers. And we had a spreadsheet of around 2k people who agreed to support us.
đȘStage 6 â Launch Day
- You need to start messaging people from your spreadsheet immediately at 00:00 PST time zone. The goal is to get as many people as possible in the first 4 hours (CRUCIAL!).
- If you are number one after 4 hours, most likely you will stay number one till the end of the day.
- Linkedin has limitations on how many messages you can send in a day, that is why I advised to have multiple accounts.
- The goal should be to message at least 1k people in the first 4 hours (you will definitely need help)
đ„ŽStage 7 â Stay awake 24 hours
- Our team of 3 people was awake all day long since the 2nd place on PH was trying hard to overtake us. We continued messaging our supporters all day long and staying active sharing our launch wherever possible (linkedin groups, reddit, fb groups, twitter)
