One week ago I launched the “Tribe Finder Podcast”. My goal was to get it into the “New & Noteworthy” section on iTunes for maximum exposure. Four days later it was featured on “New & Noteworthy”. Here’s what I did.

Listened to the pros.

I followed the advice of veteran podcasters such as Pat Flynn (Smart Passive Income), Cliff Ravenscraft (Podcast Answerman), Dave Conrey (Creative Business Podcast) & Jessica Kupferman (Lady Business Radio) and it actually worked.

Paid someone to make my image

iTunes is more likely to showcase a podcast that looks professional — so make it look good. There are some seriously ugly podcast graphics out there. I knew an even moderately nice one would go a long way.

Don’t put lots of words on the image and make the type large enough for an 80 year old to read.

Launched with multiple episodes

I launched with four strong episodes. This way my download numbers would be higher. My guests were diverse and well known in their market. I had Gorliz Lucina (SoulPancake), Fred Penner (children’s musician), Ryan Leier (One Yoga) and the introduction episode is me talking about my journey. I’ll keep the momentum going with an episode with Michael Franti & SaraLua this week.

Personally Emailed Friends to Rate & Review

Beyond sharing the episodes on social media, encouraging people to listen, rate & review; a personal request goes a long way. I won’t lie…after about 10 emails I felt like a pain in the butt. It’s time consuming — but more effective and its a way to let my friends be a part of the show.
