The sun was setting and the engine roared on, mercilessly, as the Dodge Challenger rolled down the hill. Tim wanted to make a stop by the gas station but there wasn’t one to be seen in sight. He kept driving along until he saw a debilitated gas station. His anxiety of running out of gas quickly diminished. He pulled up and had his car hug the side of the pump. He whipped out his keys and stared outside for a minute before deciding to open the door. His fingers gripped the door handle and he pushed with his body weight to open it. However the door was locked. Tim didn’t recall locking the car, so his palms started to sweat a bit. He went for a round two and didn’t comprehend why he couldn’t open the door.

He starts to hit the windows and finds his strength dwindling away. Tim isn’t claustrophobic but he is finding himself to be a tad bit paranoid as to why he can’t escape his Challenger. He sits back to recollect himself but climbs over to the passenger seat to see if it’s just the driver’s side that is malfunctioning. He grips the handle of the door and absolutely nothing budges. He starts to think of his job and how they would react if they found out that he couldn’t come in later. A loud thump comes from him banging his two hands on the dashboard. He continues to do this with vigorous effort until he feels a hand on his shoulder.

He stops breathing and closes his eyes. He can feel his eyes welling up and the hand gripping tighter onto his shoulder. Tim focuses on his breathing and moves his left hand upwards to grab the hand that held his shoulder. There was absolutely nothing there. He let out a deep sigh and started to question why he felt a hand on his shoulder. Could the universe be telling him that he is being held back by heavy-weighted forces? Or could it just be a figment of his imagination?

To be continued…
