Five Things We Can Learn About DevOps From Kenny Rogers

If you’re gonna play the game, boy, you gotta learn to play it right.

  1. You’ve got to know when to hold ‘em. When beginning the transition to DevOps, identify your team’s core strengths and utilize those moving forward.
  2. Know when to fold ‘em. Parts of your infrastructure or development cycle may be antiquated and need to be retired. That’s okay.
  3. Know when to walk away. Hey, having trouble getting into continuous integration or automation? Just come back to it later, dummy!
  4. Know when to run. There’s a guy chasing you? I don’t know for this one. Sorry.
  5. You never count your money when you’re sittin’ at the table. There’ll be time enough for countin’ when the dealin’s done. Best part of the song, right here.
