We have to do a lot of things daily in limited time but we face hard to complete it due to many distractions that divert our attention. The important task is to identify these distractions to deal with them. I chose Pomodoro Technique to deal with this issue. It was developed by Francesco Cirillo in the late 1980s. The Pomodoro Technique can help you power through distractions, hyper-focus, and get things done in short bursts, while taking frequent breaks to come up for air and relax. Traditionally one session is of 25 minutes in length, separated by short breaks. Best of all, it’s easy and applicable. It is probably one of the simplest productivity methods to implement.

Things required for this technique

  1. Pen
  2. Paper
  3. Alarm

And.. and the most important thing determination and dedication as you are your own observer, no one is here to judge you except yourself. So if you are really committed and sincere to yourself then this technique is definitely going to help you a lot.

There are mainly following steps in this technique.

  1. Task decision
  2. Set the pomodoro timer (traditionally to 25 minutes)
  3. Work on the task until the time ends
  4. Note down the things on paper that distracted you from working
  5. Try to avoid these things while working
  6. Take the break of 3–5 minutes and again go to step 2 if task not completed
  7. After four pomodoros, take a longer break (15–30 minutes)

When I came to know about this technique I tried to implement it for maximizing my productivity for getting things done in lesser time. According to the instructions I arranged all things and sat for the work.

I set the alarm of 25 minutes and opened my diary to know about the things that distract me from doing my work. The first thing is my mobile that distracts my attention while I am doing tasks, project work or preparing for the exam. Same thing happened this time so I turned off the volume of my mobile and put it aside. This tip actually helped me in focusing on my work. The second distracting that observed were my siblings: my brother and sister. Both were making noise and watching videos in high volume so I said them to shut up and after that I was able to do my work with better attention. So with the help of this technique I identified my major distractions that stop me working with attention. I found this activity really beneficial for increasing the productivity and I have a plan to use this technique on daily basis for getting things done in lesser time.

You should try it out, it actually works..!
