Random Acts of Kindness — Spread Happiness — Stay Happy

Kindness is the language which the deaf can hear and the blind can see.
As we all have heard the proverb “Tit for Tat” , this shows that you will get the things in the same manner as you will behave others. As you sow, so shall you reap. If you will behave good to others, show concern and interest to them then they will remember you kindness and your enemies can become your friends. No act of kindness, no matter how small is ever wasted. One little act of kindness, one word of sympathy and one concern to someone’s problems can make their day. Unexpected kindness is the most powerful and least costly gift to a human being given by the other human. Kindness is not only limited to human beings but we should be kind to all creatures on the earth. But beware of the fact that people can start taking you for-granted due to this habit so you should analyse the situation properly and act accordingly.

Islam is the religion of peace and kindness. It teaches us the lesson to be kind to not only humans but to the all animals and other creatures on the earth. Even Islam has the rules for slaughtering the animal to hurt him less. There are number of examples of kindness in our life of Holy Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W) who was Rehmat for the whole universe. He (S.A.W) showed kindness and concern to his enemies despite of their worst behavior with him. He (S.A.W) forgave the women who used to throw garbage on him and not only forgave her but cleaned her home also. The kind attitude of the Holy Prophet (S.A.W) inspired her into the recognition of the Truth, and his prayers were answered in the form of yet another addition into the growing number of Muslims.
The prisoners of war taken captive at the battle of Badr were his bitterest enemies. Nevertheless, he (S.A.W) made sure that they were given the best of treatment. And when he (S.A.W) conquered Makkah, entering it with ten thousand soldiers, he (S.A.W) had the power to punish the people who had abused and persecuted him, plotted his assassination, expelled him from his homeland, killed his companions and tortured them because of their religion. But he (S.A.W) showed the kindness and mercy to them and forgave them. His life is full of such acts of kindness that attracted non-Muslims towards Islam and circle of the Muslims increased day by day.
This world is full of other kind people, world remember them due to their small and random acts of kindness like Abul Sattar Edhi, Dr. Ruth Pfau, Martin Luther King, Nelson Mandela, Mother Teresa and many more.

Abdul Sattar Edhi Sb is really close to my heart. I found the personality of that nice soul really interesting. He helped the people of Pakistan without the discrimination of caste, colour, creed, religion and status for years without the greed of any reward. The network of “Edhi Homes” has been spread to the whole country and this work is continued after his departure from this world. He inherited the habit of helping others from his mother as narrated by him
“Each morning she (mother) gave me two paisas and advised me to give one to somebody poor and spend one on myself”.
I learned that we should help others and be kind to them according to our capacity. If we choose a goal then we should be determined enough to make it a reality. Never lose hope as Allah help the people who really work hard for achieving their goal specially for serving humanity. All we have to do is we should be focused, try again and again.
Dr Ruth Pfau (9 September 1929–10 August 2017) was a German-born Pakistani physician who moved from Germany to Pakistan and never went back. She devoted more than 50 years of her life to fighting leprosy in Pakistan by establishing 157 leprosy clinics across Pakistan that treated over 56,780 people.
Nelson Mandela was the African anti-apartheid revolutionary, politician, and philanthropist, who served as President of South Africa from 1994 to 1999. We can learn many characteristics from him as he can be considered as an example to follow. He spent 27 years of his life in Jail. While he was in jail he behaved so kindly with the jailer that he became his friend. So with the help of these little acts of kindness even your enemies become your life time friends.

I looked at my day and tried to figure out small acts of kindness that I did today to see that what I actually gained during this day.
- Helped a fellow in project work as she was confused regarding the instructions
- Made the tea for my father as he really needed it due to hectic routine
- Called and messaged different orphanages to find out the right one for the mega project
- Sent some articles to my university fellow that were according to her research topic
- Turned off my laptop for my sister as she was tired a lot and had to sleep
So here is the question that how random acts kindness affects our mind and soul?? Are they helpful for us or not??
“People who engage in kind acts become happier over time,” says Sonja Lyubomirsky, Ph.D., a professor of psychology at the University of California, Riverside. She has studied happiness for over 20 years. According to that research when you are kind to others, you feel good as a person — more moral, optimistic, and positive. Performing other positive acts once a week led to the most happiness.
According to Dr. David R. Hamilton, acts of kindness create an emotional warmth, which releases a hormone known as oxytocin. Oxytocin causes the release of a chemical called nitric oxide, which dilates the blood vessels. This reduces blood pressure and, therefore, oxytocin is known as a “cardioprotective” hormone. It protects the heart by lowering blood pressure. Another research shows that mortality is delayed, depression is reduced and well-being and good fortune are increased due to kindness.

So all these things shows that kindness is not only good for others but also beneficial for yourself, your body, your mind and soul. You can benefit your heart, reduce anxiety, lower blood pressure, and simply be a happier human being. Who wouldn’t want that? Hmmmmm???
