What is Fashion?

What is fashion? Is it just the clothes and shoes that we wear? Or is it the handbags and accessories that we buy? Fashion is everything, from headbands to trousers to flip flops. Just from a piece of cloth, everyone around us can see through us like a thin sheet of paper.

So why bother wearing clothes? Why the need to spend thousands of dollars on one pair of shoes that we’ll probably wear once? What is the urge to reach for the doors and swiping our credit cards even though we know we’ll have to worry about it later? One simple answer, to express ourselves. Miles away from each other and fashion is the language that everyone speaks. A Dior handbag may mean nothing to someone but it can mean the world to another. The pattern and style of a handbag can determine how we look at the person; crisscross and stripes can have totally different meanings and feelings.

I personally love Givenchy and Yves Saint Laurent (YSL) a lot. Why? Because I like the simplicity of their designs. A simple YSL logo can mean a lot; it can represent the uniqueness of the brand as well as the story behind the person carrying it. Although most of the products are black in colour, the way I match my clothing can give a totally different feeling. Pairing it with a t-shirt and a pair of jeans can give a casual and subtle look, but with a long black dress it can give a hint of sophistication.

I love how fashion can show the different sides of someone. The way everyone express themselves through the clothes that they way fascinates me. Wearing a simple t-shirt and a pair of shorts may not mean laid back, just as wearing a princess-like dress may not mean you are going to a ball.

One clap, two clap, three clap, forty?

By clapping more or less, you can signal to us which stories really stand out.
