How I went from Zero skills to a Business Coach, Web Designer, and a Copywriter at 60✨ — and How You Can Do the Same!
Assalamualaikum, my name is Fathima and I’m a Business Coach, Web Designer, and Copywriter living in India — and I didn’t have any of these skills from my university !
Read on to find out how I started my journey…
It was 2002 and I had met with a big challenge in life. Raising a son and meeting ends was not easy as a single mom.
I had a tiring job as a school teacher that drained me spiritually, physically, and mentally.
Not only that, but I had compromised my deen and made many wrong financial decisions due to the lack of Islamic knowledge that I had.
I had no idea how to solve any of these issues and I was filled with many fears
😨 Fear of Death.
😨 Fear of not living a life pleasing Allah.
😨 Fear of poor financial life after retirement.
😨 Fear of health deterioration as I never had time to focus on my health.
Additionally, because of my introversion, I had poor social skills and allowed many negative people in my family and workplace to take up a lot of my time and energy, leaving me feeling stressed and depressed.
In 2018, situations at work got worse, and at the age of 56, I decided to leave my job.
Alhamdulillah, the moment ⚡ had come for me to live for Allah.
I was determined to use the skills and knowledge I had acquired through my life experiences to serve Him and benefit the Ummah.
I knew that it wouldn’t be easy, but with determination and hard work I knew that I could do it.
So, I started fresh. I decided to
✅ Fix all my fears and frustrations.
✅ Earn smartly and invest wisely.
✅ Work on my physical and mental health.
✅ Learn the Quran and get more close to Allah.
My son had a similar journey when he rediscovered life in 2015, MashaAllah.
He left his corporate job at the end of 2016 and started his new life.
Together, we started our own food business for the first time in 2017 — even though we had no prior business experience.
Unfortunately, it failed after a few years and didn’t work out in the end, but that didn’t stop us from pushing forward 🔥
My son is an avid learner and enjoys taking courses and reading books to constantly expand his knowledge.
During that time, he was a Graphic Designer transitioning to a UI/UX Designer and was taking design classes for income.
But our trials did not stop, it was 2020, the pandemic hit and all our sources of income dried up.
That’s when my son had a brilliant idea 💡 — He asked me to learn design too!
At 58 years old and with no computer knowledge, I thought he was joking😆.
But he encouraged me to take a chance and begin a new journey.
He taught me UI and UX design using Figma and, as I was already an artist, I loved this new skill ❤️
Slowly and steadily, I started designing even Apps to my surprise. I did not think about this in my wildest dreams. 🤯
Alhamdullilah, it was a great journey that enabled me to progress to creating stunning websites and landing pages with Webflow.
But I quickly realized that while websites can look beautiful, they need great copy to truly sell.
So I took courses on copywriting, and began practicing copy✍️ taking feedback from my son.
I’m now learning SEO, and the journey only gets more 🤩 exciting.
Life is no longer mundane — it’s become interesting, purposeful, and less stressful. 😇
The extra time I have now allows me to take care of my health, memorize Quran with tafseer, learn Hadith, perform more dhikr, and make smarter financial decisions.
Alhamdullilah, I’m able to achieve all these objectives, which have been my 🎯 goals for so long.
Currently, my son has started a project called Ummah Startups — which aims to empower our Ummah by helping visionaries become Ummah Entrepreneurs 🦸🏼♂️
When he was telling me about his startup idea and explaining what it does and how it will benefit the youth of this Ummah, it 💡 struck him suddenly and he said
“why don’t you do something similar to sisters of our community, there might be so many out there just like you, and you could help them with the skills you learnt these years ”
It was a Aha 🤯 moment for us.
It was his great idea that inspired me to start helping other Muslimah’s transform their lives to the next level and make them successful creators and entrepreneurs.
That’s why I created MusliMumPreneur — a platform for Muslim women to learn, grow, and empower each other 🧕🏼.
To make sure they don’t make the same mistakes I did, I am using the knowledge Allah has blessed me with to help them.
My dear sister, I invite you to the Muslimumpreneur club because it is about YOU and for YOU — no matter your age, success level, or experience.
Here, you can express yourself and your ideas, share your fears, experiences, knowledge, and helpful suggestions with the Ummah.
Earning a Halal income as a single mother is difficult in 2023, which is why I intend to make it easier, less stressful, and more fun — all from the comfort of your own home, with nothing more than a 💻 laptop or 📱phone.
If I can do it at 60 so can you at 20, 30, 40 or 50 🔥
Don’t make the same mistakes I did, sisters. It’s not worth the time and energy.
Don’t let yourself be
😤 bogged down by 9–5 jobs and
😔 work in a mixed environment,
😡 get questioned for your Hijab, and
😑 always be treated differently for being a Muslim.
If you are a Muslimah reading this, I know you can relate to having experienced or are currently experiencing many of these issues in life.
That’s why I remind you to fear Death, take action NOW and live a life pleasing Allah.
Leave a Legacy, let others know your struggles and how you came out victorious.✊
Let’s create a community of sisters, supporting and empowering each other. Together, we can achieve greatness InshaAllah! 👥
I will also make it clear what Muslimumpreneur is NOT.
It is not about feminism or any of the so-called ‘liberal values’ that have plagued our Ummah recently.
Instead, Muslimumpreneur focuses on upholding Islamic values, such as modesty, fitrah and taqwa which are essential for any successful venture and a righteous Muslimah.
Our role model is not just Khadija R.A but all of our Prophet (S.A.W)’s wives and the righteous women mentioned in the Quran.
Muslimumpreneur’s base foundation is Quran and Sunnah and it will not be compromised ever.
I will strive to help you sisters by providing with 📖 courses, 🛠️ tools and 🎁 resources you need to build your businesses in a way that is in accordance with Shariah and that which will make you self-sufficient and be able to provide the best for your children.
So, if you are a Muslimah looking to make a difference in our Ummah, join the awesome MusliMumPreneur community on Telegram here 👇
I am here to help you on your journey to success. Let us empower each other in this life for the benefits of both worlds InshaAllah.
Let me remind you a few verses from the Quran :
If you feel broken now, know that, Allah says
“And certainly, We shall test you with something of fear, hunger, loss of wealth, lives and fruits, but give glad tidings to As-Saabiroon (the patient).
Who, when afflicted with calamity, say: ‘Truly, to Allaah we belong and truly, to Him we shall return.’
They are those on whom are the Salawaat (i.e. who are blessed and will be forgiven) from their Lord, and (they are those who) receive His Mercy, and it is they who are the guided ones” — [al-Baqarah 2:155–157]
“Do you think that you will enter Paradise before Allaah tests those of you who fought (in His Cause) and (also) tests those who are As-Saabiroon (the patient)?” — [Aal ‘Imraan 3:142]
Allaah tests us, sometimes with calamities and sometimes with blessings, to show who will be thankful and who will be ungrateful, and who will obey and who will disobey, then He will reward or punish them on the Day of Resurrection.
“And know that your possessions and your children are but a trial and that surely, with Allaah is a mighty reward” — [al-Anfaal 8:28]
Allah also consoles us that after his tests and trials, there is relief.
“Verily, with hardship there is relief” — [Qur’an 94:6]
Sometimes Allaah tests His slaves with calamities in order to raise them in status and to expiate for their sins, as the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said:
“No misfortune or disease befalls a Muslim, no worry or grief or harm or distress — not even a thorn that pricks him — but Allaah will expiate for some of his sins because of that.” (al-Bukhaari, 5641)
and
And in the end your Lord will give you, and you shall be well pleased! — [Quran 93:5]
Hope you heart has now rested well.
