In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the most Merciful.

My name is Fathir Fajar Sidiq. I have worked in Depok City for almost 11 years, since I was graduated from Institute of Public Administration in 2006. My first assignment was to be staff in General Affair Division in Depok City, where I contributed as one of the speech drafter for my Mayor and Vice Mayor.

In 2009, I got scholarship from my local government to have my postgraduate in University of Indonesia (UI), majoring public administration. After I graduated, one my duties were to support my Mayor in every activity related with the movement called One Day No Rice (ODNR). It was a movement to bring awareness for the people to live a healthy life. During that period, most of my time has been dedicated to inform and socialize this movement to the people of Depok City and Indonesia as a whole. One of the best activities that I can organize was record breaking of 24,520 students who will eat non rice and non-wheat food. The aim of the activity was to educate students to love their own local food, such as food made of corn, tuber, cassava, etc.

In 2013, I got promoted as Head of Sub Division of Public Policy Analysis in the Public Relations Office of Depok City. My duties especially monitoring and assessing news and information, in relations to whatever happens and recorded through printed media (newspapers, magazines, etc.) and electronic media, such as online news and social media. By doing that, I gather information in order to give suggestion and the best solution for my Mayor and Vice Mayor for every problems that appears in media.

My passion is to build trust and commitment from the community, so the improvement and the development of the city will create equal prosperity to every single people who live in Depok City. My past experience as an exchange student will give broader perspective on how to interact and to manage people to involve in every activity that will give added value to the community.

In 2016, I got selected as one of the fellows of Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative (YSEALI) in United States of America. The main reasons for this fellowship were to learn best practices from local government in US, build networking with other professional employees in US, and also to exchange culture between two countries. And for my home country, there are two things that I learn from my 5 weeks experiences in US. First, my country needs to accelerate more in every aspect of knowledge, in order to compete with other countries. Second, English language is a must for every young generation in Indonesia, so they can be ready to compete with other professional from other countries.

As a bureaucrat, it is always been my dream to build a good and clean governance. A bureaucracy that truly trusted by the people, to give excellent services, and perform innovative policy through exemplary leadership. My goal is very simple, start from my local community, move forward to my regional, after that conclude my action through national and international community. I really hope, through this scholarship program from LPDP, I could fulfill my dream to improve the performance of local bureaucracy and to provide maximum benefits, not only for the people of Depok City, but also for the people of West Java Province and my country, Indonesia.
