Last February, I wrote about Anjelica ‘AJ’ Hadsell, an 18-year-old college student who went missing while visiting her family in Norfolk, Virginia, during spring break 2015. Her body was found 5 weeks later, buried in a drainage ditch behind an abandoned house. 7 years later, AJ’s stepfather, long-time suspect, Wesley Hadsell, has been convicted of her murder.

Wesley, who had been kicked out by AJ’s mother for drug use, kidnapped the teen as she was folding clothes and listening to music in the living room. He raped and beat AJ before injecting her with a lethal dose of heroin. Authorities eventually found her remains by tracking his vehicle’s GPS.

In a final act of depravity, Wesley attempted to frame AJ’s childhood best friend by breaking into his home and planting AJ’s jacket under a couch cushion. Wesley will be sentenced on…
