The colleagues we all need

On my journey to being an Andela developer, I’ve had an opportunity to interact and collaborate with like-minded individuals that have either inspired me, guided me or motivated me to keep pushing forward. It’s not every day that you meet people who are willing to put in their time and skills to help you on your career journey. It’s just been a week since I met these individuals but for some reason, I already feel like we’ve been working together for a while now. So without further ado, let me pay tribute to the following:-

I will start with my learning facilitator(LF) Peter Walugembe, a software engineer at Andela. His role this week has been reviewing our team’s project and giving us feedback. He has been doing an exceptional job. He is calm and composed and he’s always straight to the point. He appreciates where you do the work well and guides you where you need to improve. He is a good time manager, respects and requires you to respect deadlines. A slack message to him will immediately receive a response. Big thumbs up to you Peter. I couldn’t have asked for a better LF.

Let me also talk about Adralia Nelson, a teammate that I have connected with, in the last few days. Nelson is a passionate software developer who strives to improve his skills every other day. I had an opportunity of sharing a boda-boda (Motorcycle ride) with him and on our way to hive-colab for a team meeting, we talked a lot about how amazing it would be to join Andela. About how much experience we would amass. His commitment to the Andela interview process moved me and motivated me. I hope we will both get an opportunity to work alongside each other as colleagues at Andela.

Armstrong Muhwezi(Soultech), another teammate, is one of the helpful people I’ve ever met. I first got to know him over the 13th cohort slack channel. He was everywhere, answering everyone’s questions and providing resources for reference. He has been very supportive during this entire interview process and an integral member of team Flash. He is one person who is not bothered when approached. Do you need help at any time? Soultech will be there to provide it. Every development team definitely needs such a person in their corner. Thank you Soultech.

Last but not least, I would like to talk about Omarwoth Jonathan. A very calm, positive and supportive member of our team. Jonathan strives to raise the bar. He is the kind of person that tends to keep you calm whenever you’re feeling overwhelmed about not meeting the required target. He is there when you need him and will always tell you how everything is going to be fine. He is a breath of fresh air in our team. Thank you, Jonathan.

I will end by thanking other members of our team Victor Nomwesigwa, Okiror Frank, and Ampeire Phemia for being amazing members of our team. Victor is such a persistent person. She doesn’t just give up. She will focus on solving issues in her code despite failing a million times. Her persistence motivates me. I hope soon we will all be in the Andela fellowship and will have all the pre-fellowship stories to tell.

Keep coding guys…
