My Beef With Time

Time rules everything around us, everything we do, and everything we will ever do. We live according to its linear nature because that’s how we can best comprehend the sequence of things that happen around us, and that will (maybe) never change. It goes slow when you want it to go faster, and the clock goes damn near Mach 5 when you really want to enjoy the moment, and there’s nothing you can do about it. Time can make you sit and experience with an almost disciplinarian nature, but time also heals and minimizes the pains of the present as it slowly transforms into the past. You may very well want to speed up time so you may experience the euphoria of being able to look back and say, “I’m so glad that’s over with”,

Maybe you’re spending the night with someone you love dearly, but know they’ll have to leave soon. And again you’re at the mercy of time as to when you can have that moment again.

Maybe you’re practicing rigorously at something every day, and feel as though you’re not going anywhere with it. The foil about the present block in time is not being able to see where you started, or see what you may become. You can only hope time blesses your dedication and consistency and gets you to where you want to be. And you know it will, the future favors the consistent.

Maybe you’re trying your hardest to detach from a habit you have right now or even a person, but you making that decision doesn’t change much. You’re still in the now where the dopamine receptors that get you addicted to that habit or that person is still fired up. What eventually eases them away while you’re consistent with staying out of trouble? Time is the one persistent concept we have in the universe.

Whatever you’re trying to do, keep doing it because time will carry you to where you want to be. If you don’t, time has no choice but to make you a little more miserable, working against time will only work against you, it’s got hands.

You have to wait for your life to feel better, and that’s my beef with time.
