I was once challenged for saying something similar. I was asked if it was a privilege or if I was empowered, and how I viewed the two. I agree that privilege has been turned into an insult, but I also think that’s because we don’t actually know what the definition is when we use it. I remind myself that a ‘privilege’ in the context of these conversations is an ‘unearned advantage that gives one person benefits over another by virtue of their embodiment and nothing else.’
