Indeed. It’s something I’d been chewing on for months before writing the piece. Reading commentary from transwomen, for example. Or when a man makes a statement like: I would be a feminist but I’m not a woman.
Getting bogged down with semantics — trapped in the nitty-gritty of specifics- detracts from the larger issue of gender inequality and the impact it has. Or at least that’s been my observation.
My intention was merely to point out how much time people who may actually agree with each other spend bickering because their choices are different. Which is ironic as any movement for equality is a movement for freedom of choice.
