This has been really interesting and I appreciate your posting it. I was not aware of either position and reading both sides has given me a lot of food for thought. It’s difficult and yes, about creating informed opinions.
Unfortunately I feel the Internet has created a culture of aggression because we can hide behind computer screens and dehumanise the icon, even if it’s an actual photo of the actual human being we are actually saying very cruel/demeaning/spiteful things about.
Dualistic thinking and limiting people to labels turns us all into trolls.
So thank you for pointing out that dehumanising people is not part of effective debate or communication. I feel like this is something more people should be pointing out.
