Tightrope

Baby steps is my motto now.

I met you yesterday
Today’s morning is golden
And tomorrow feels brighter

I thought you didn’t care about me anymore
I only intended to meet you one last time
To have a feeling of closure

But you agreed to see me
You let me in your life again
New possibilities came to mind

I was about to kiss you
When I thought, wait!
Hold your horses

Everything is uncertain
I have to hold back the euphoria
And proceed with caution

You still don’t want anything serious
I won’t settle for a piece of you
I want you whole

You won’t hear a word about these butterflies in my belly
I won’t tell you about that biteable cute face of yours
I’ll keep it all to myself and give you a wide smile

I’ll keep holding myself back
And I’ll lead you to me
Little by little

When walking on a tightrope
One wrong step and
It’s all over
