How I got a laptop for my tech career.

Firstly, a little appreciation for being here! I am not much of a storyteller but trust me- you will love it here!

Making it a short read so I don’t bore my helpers :)

At the beginning of the year- same way everyone was writing their goals for the year. I decided to hop on the trend. I wrote my goals. I wrote down a seemingly impossible one- buy myself a laptop before my birthday. My birthday is in the fourth month of the year — APRIL!

As usual, I made my requests to God in faith — this time with little doubts in my heart. I tried to think of the best ways it could happen. I tried to help God.

God says, “Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.” In summary, it says, “Believe in my Favour, and I will prove it to you.” 1 Cor 2:14, 1 Cor 1:27.

Trying to relate logically with God is impossible, because the Bible states that “His ways and thoughts are higher than ours.”

Moving into the year, I did things. Oh Lord! Good things tho!😅. I actively engaged with prominent Twitter tech influencers’ posts and left comments, primarily expressing my need for a laptop and emphasizing its importance to me. But guess what, I was neither heard nor seen. That didn’t stop me tho, because I continued. While scrolling through Twitter one day, I stumbled upon a tweet where a lucky individual received a laptop as a gift from a Tech Influencer. In response, I boldly quoted the tweet, confidently asserting that I would soon acquire my own. The audacity!

Fast forward to March, I got a call from a friend- the discussion we had was to keep track of the goals we had set out for the year. She said in a month time that I was going to get a Laptop, but we were gonna back it up with two things- Prayer and Fasting.

On other instances I tried to help God- I knew it wasn’t gonna fall from the sky. I can be gifted or I can buy it- but I didn’t even have the cash.

In April, Dreamax, my tech community, held a contest where the winner would receive a laptop. I wasn’t really interested, so I completely forgot about it. On the Sunday before my birthday, while going through my chats, I stumbled upon the group and noticed that many people had already started participating in the contest. I didn’t have much to lose, so I made up my mind to win it — and I actually did.

The scripture reads, “There is no pleasure in accomplishing NOTHING.” (Jer. 17:10, 2 Thess. 3:10, Matt. 25:14–30.)

As I look back, I am immensely proud of what I accomplished. Getting the laptop before my birthday was not just about possessing a tangible item, but about proving to myself that I could overcome challenges and achieve my dreams. It was a pivotal moment in my life, one that taught me the value of setting goals and putting in the effort to make them a reality.

That thing you desire to do;
That thing you aspire to become;
That life you long to live;
Continue on your path, but don’t disregard or underestimate the workings of God in the process.
“It will be fulfilled”
declares the Lord.
