Honest Review for Redragon K509 DYAUS 2 which is the 104 Key Keyboard with great RGB backlit effects and low price.

Redragon K509 DYAUS 2

In this article, we are going to see in detail the Honest Review Gaming keyboard Redragon K509 Dyaus 2 that has been designed for RGB lovers. In this article, we are going to see its features, PROs, and CONs, sound test in case you are going to buy it. The package contains a user manual and a Redragon sticker.

Looks and Construction:

At first look, the keyboard is full-sized with 104 keys on the front made up of plastic where slight force can be bend twist it. While the all-around keyboard is the transparent strip for the backlit glow.

The lower side is also constructed out of plastic with 4 rubber feet and 2 height adjustment feet. Without plugging in it just looks like a regular or “branded” keyboard. But right after connecting tying it with PC, the real magic happens. RGB backlit not only behind the keys but all-around keyboard illuminates and you will rarely see this type of backlit in keyboards so it’s something new and fresh. So before exploring its RGB backlit let’s discuss its keys in detail.

104 Key Keyboard:

So keys got transparent simple fonts with a rough matte finish on top. But they have a drawback that they catch fingerprint stains and despite the fact they can be cleaned easily but fortunately with time they will become shiny and more slippery. Its membrane keys are almost silent with their sound in our sound test.

Keys Rollover:

Well, the keyboard got 25 key rolls over where most used in gaming are included and these keys are underlined on the keyboard so in most games there should be no key conflict.

Shortcut Keys:

Keyboard also got multimedia keys accessed by FN+F1-F12 including:

  • FN+F1 for the multimedia player
  • F2 for volume down
  • F3 for volume Up
  • F4 for mute
  • F5 for stop
  • F6 Previous track
  • F7 for play or pause
  • F8 for next track
  • F9 Email app
  • F10 Home
  • F11 open My computer
  • FN+F12 is for an opening search app

Although for most users these shortcut keys are useless for certain situations, these can come in handy.

Wire of Redragon K509 DYAUS 2:

The keyboard got a 2-meter ultra-thin plastic cable with USB 2.0.

So before we jump to price and final thoughts, let us look at its performance and RGB backlit in detail.

Gaming Performance:

Whereas its membrane keys are a bit harder as compared to other membrane keyboards but without any delay and lags. As its membrane-type so key travel distance is noticeable but for a few games, you will get used to it.

One good feature via experienced, if you use keyboards with a flat hand, they will be more comfortable because of their thin design. But fortunately guys after using mechanical keyboards, now a membrane keyboard for gaming is not satisfactory.

The window key can be disabled through FN+Win keys so that accidental with the keypress can be prevented.

RGB Backlit:

So guys let’s talk its RGB backlit where the first thing is backlit all around its borders. Well, they do look cheap at a first look where LEDs in flow pattern just actually glow in red, green, and blue colors. By default flow, RGB pattern is set, but other effects are also accessible through shortcuts key including:

  • FN+Ins for spectrum mode that looks ore decent as compared to flow RGB.
  • FN+End for breathing mode where the only difference is there will be a short gap between the change of color.
  • FN+Home for single color breathing mode where colors can be changed by pressing the same keys.
  • FN+Page Up for RGB Breathing mode that just like flow, is cheap looking.
  • Backlit can be switched on or off by FN+Page Down keys.
  • Backlit brightness adjust by FN+ Up or down Arrow keys
  • Backlit effect speed by FN+Right or Left arrow keys

I think the keyboard LED-backlit switched off looks more decent!

Price:

So guys this keyboard will cost around 20 USD.

But for that? Just for membrane keys? or cheap-looking RGB Backlit? or Just for Redragon branding?

Because we can get a mechanical keyboard with same BAcklit pattern in same or even less price. If we only talk about membrane keyboards so Bloody Q135 is providing even better features and build quality in 6 USD less price.

Conclusion of Honest Review:

Still, I will be recommended a mechanical keyboard for gaming, and if the budget is but tighter. As I said earlier, prefer BLoody Q135 or T-dagger Torpedo with much softer keys.
