In this post-era of Liberalisation, Privatisation and Globalisation, India has been earmarked as one of the fastest growing economies of the world. The technological advances take place at a sky-rocketing pace. Kerala stands as one of the most powerful resource for engineers and is the most sought after IT destinations of the country.

Despite offering the cream of engineers and a plethora of opportunities, the technocrats of the State often take a back seat. The biggest challenge faced by them is the lack of a fertile ground for learning and knowledge-sharing. They often side-line the process of learning, which is supposed to be a womb-to-tomb process. The need of the hour is to hack the current system of being in the comfort zones of learning and knowledge hoarding. One should always be in a pursuit of excellence and be at par with the latest technologies.

The technology-savvy should be given the correct platform to broaden the horizons of knowledge by mastering the art of Learning. The overhead of IT industry in the present scenario is the culture of being in the comfort zones of technology and work. The technocrats remain in a dormant state of ‘Unconscious Incompetence’ where they are trapped in an echo-chamber which reverberates “I Me and Myself”. They shut themselves down from the latest advancements in their area and profess to be the masters in the technology they handle. This is a very serious situation wherein the rich IT resources of the State are at stake.

The solution for this predicament is to unleash themselves from the echo-chamber and strike the right opportunity to gain knowledge on their respective domains. Once they break-free from the chamber, the realization of being detached from the technological stratosphere will dawn upon them. This will help them embark on a hunt for greener pastures of technologies. They start being well-versed about the areas where they need to improve, the platforms that provide the opportunity to gain expertise and finally switch on to the process of learning. This stage of ‘Conscious Incompetence’ plays a vital role in moulding the future of the IT industry of the State. This is the stage wherein the technocrats start the process of transfiguring themselves from a technologist to a ‘technosavvigist’.

Once they start being at par with the latest developments, their learning curve attains unprecedented heights. They try to identify the right opportunities and platforms to learn the technologies and thus improve their competence to fill their technology gap. They start developing community-of-practice and thus build a close-knitted group of like-minded technologists. Their skills and productivity increases by leaps and bounds leading to a stage of ‘Conscious Competence’. This paves way for better programmers, developers, analysts and other technologists who are aware of their competence in comparison to their counterparts. Adequate hard-work and indomitable determination become their pillars of success.

The art of learning empowers the Consciously Competent technocrats with the confidence to implement the technologies they learnt by overcoming their hesitation to try something new. They look upto the fellow learners in case of confusion and doubt. Since the quest for excellence becomes a daily routine, the technocrats switch on to the zenith of learning, the stage of ‘Unconscious Incompetence’. They become masters of the technology and does best quality work naturally. Learning and knowledge-sharing becomes the part and parcel of their life. These unconsciously skilled engineers are the prodigies of technology in the industry and are the best brains sought after by the world-class IT industries. Moreover, they become the learning hubs for the other technosavvigits in the industry.

We, at FAYA India, have earmarked 2016 as the quest for Knowledge by unleashing a campaign on “Free Knowledge-Sharing”. The campaign provides a platform for the technology enthusiasts to get updated about the latest tools and technologies in the IT industry. It thrusts on the importance of knowledge gaining and sharing of the knowledge gained. One has to harness the power of social-media to inculcate a culture of immediate-knowledge sharing.

It is a common trend that the people are reluctant and sceptical to share technology on their social media pages. They are engulfed by the rat-race for likes and shares for their pictures, humor and many more. The campaign brings insight into the fact that it is not about the number of likes or shares obtained on the media, but about sharing the knowledge gained for the betterment of the fellow technologists. This is done as their social responsibility to the technology community. The technology thus shared on social media will be attached with #fayaport80. Later on, this hashtag will serve as the knowledge-window for all the latest trends and development in technology. This new breeze of Free Knowledge Sharing will sweep the State of Kerala to revolutionize the synergy with technology.
