Ahmad Fayaz Nawabi

Fayaz Nawabi is an increasingly prominent voice within the American Muslim Community, a Civil Rights Advocate, Former Elementary School Teacher, and Surfer from Southern California. His family fled to the United States from war torn Afghanistan when he was a child. He currently works as a Public Relations Consultant.

Mr. Nawabi is also passionate about being the voice of the disenfranchised and currently serves on the Trustee Advisory Council for the San Diego Community College District. He uses this position to advocate for minority communities attending San Diego Community Colleges and Continuing Education Campuses. In addition, Mr. Nawabi is also the President of the San Diego Muslim Democrats and was recently Elected as an Assembly District Delegate for the California Democratic Party.

Moreover, Mr. Nawabi attended Mesa College wherein he received an Associates Degree in both Japanese with an emphasis on East Asian Studies. He then went on to attend San Diego State University wherein he attained a Bachelor’s Degree in Public Administration with an emphasis in City Planning. Whilst attending SDSU he served as the VP of Intercultural Affairs for the Professional Studies and Fine Arts College Council and served as an Officer for the Student Diversity Commission. This role at SDSU allowed him to better understand and work with various individuals from different socioeconomic backgrounds. These position also gave him an opportunity to organize events on the SDSU campus that celebrated the great diversity in its halls and classrooms.
