There are quite a lot of apps on AppStore for Mac users and most of them are designed very well. As a UI/UX designer, I focus a so much on the design of apps as well as their features. So in this article, I want to share 10 apps that make your life easier.

  • Note that this article is not sponsored by any of these apps so I do not include a link, but if you are willing to use these apps please simply google it.

Numi

Numi is a calculator, but not just a simple calculator! Numi understands what you need. For example, if you just calculating the length of something, you simply type like “20% of what is 50cm” it calculates and gives you an answer “250cm”. Another example, you might just type “tomorrow +12 days” and it gives you the date after 13 days (ex: 08/04/2022). Yeah just like that and it’s completely free.

Timing

Time management has been always a problem for me. There are many apps for time management and “some of them just take your time to manage and set your tasks on the app”, but the one that truly helps you might be the Timing. You don’t need to worry about forgetting to start or stop the timer anymore, Timing does it for you automatically, the app tracks which software, document, or website you are using on your Mac and it knows what you are spending your time. Timing tracks your call time as well, the app automatically asks you to enter time right after each video or voice call. You can’t just cheat Timing by saying “I am doing my work”, but actually scrolling up on Instagram Reels because Timing offers a mobile app as well so it can track your time on your phone. Simply, you download the “spy” on your device haha. Its starting price is €9 per month.

Pixelmator Pro

It is a photo editing app, if you are not a graphic designer or don’t know how to use professional software such as Photoshop, Pixelmator Pro is perfect for you. It is a kind of alternative to Photoshop and since Photoshop is a “heavy software” and has a lot of functions that confuse people who are not familiar with it, Pixelmator Pro would be an easier solution for them. Pixelmator Pro has all the necessary functions for editing photos:

  • Basics
  • Selecting
  • Painting
  • Retouching
  • Reshaping
  • Drawing and vectors
  • Type

If you often edit images for your brand, create high-quality posts for social media, or for any other reason, Pixelmator Pro is definitely what you need! It costs $39.99 on AppStore.

Figma

You can design, prototype, and share your work with others on Figma. Honestly, as a UI/UX designer, Figma is my favorite app and the company constantly updates and comes up with new features that make designer's life easier. Even if you are not a designer I definitely recommend Figma, It has a feature called FigJam which is an online whiteboard where you can easily explore ideas with your team members. Since Figma works fully online it saves your work on the cloud so you don’t need to worry about losing your work. Moreover, Figma allows all team members to edit the file at the same time and communicate during the work process. If you work remotely Figma is the app that you should definitely get! It is free, simply google it.

Downie

Have you ever had requested to subscribe by websites to download the video you need?!, but you don’t want to do it right?! because you want to keep your email clean. So here is the app that truly helps you to download videos from thousands of different websites. What keeps Downie one step ahead compared to other video downloaders is it can download 4K videos as well. It costs $19.99.
