Asalaamu Allaikum wa rahmatullah wa barakatu. Peace be upon you.
From our family to yours, Islamic Relief South Africa would like to wish you and your loved ones a very fruitful and blessed Ramadan.
During this holy month, we take the time to focus on bettering ourselves, seeking guidance from Allah (swt), practicing self-restraint and patience, and advancing our prayers. However, an important part of this treasured month is to realize how fortunate we are and to remember those who can’t afford the luxuries of hot meals to eat and clean water to drink when the sun sets.
Abu Huraira quoted the Prophet (pbuh) as saying, “Many people who fast get nothing from their fast except hunger and thirst, and many people who pray at night get nothing from it except wakefulness.” (Darimi)
Throughout Ramadan, we should take the time to remember all of our brothers and sisters around the world who are in need, and now, more than ever, reach out to them.
May our fasts, prayers and good deeds be accepted and may Allah SWT shower us with His mercy and give us the tawfiq to make the most out of this blessed month.
As we make our way to our first taraweeh, let us not forget our brothers and sisters suffering all over the world — from Syria and Palestine, to Somalia and Ethiopia, to Yemen and Myanmar (Burma).
We ask Allah SWT to ease their trials and allow us to be a means of their relief.
