The new Apple TV

Apple TV (ATV) seems to be what the hype is all about these days and I have been using the 2. and 3. Gen of the ATV for several years myself, but wasn’t sure if I should treat myself for an upgrade just yet. So why did I?

As an early adopter you probably know that when a new product is launched it is likely to change and get a few updates or a few of the important functionalities that should be there are still missing. This however is also interesting to watch as the product develops and what I heard from my friends and colleagues the Apple TV was no exception.

However as the tvOS App Store is filling up and a recent update has added support to a bluetooth keyboard I thought it is time to check it out, which is why I treated myself for an upgrade.

First impressions: When I first unpacked my Apple TV I was most curious about the new Siri remote and what it would be like to browse through movies and skip around the movies with it and it’s amazing!!! It’s so much more precise, when you can skip exactly 10, 20 or even 42minutes and 45 seconds backwards and it’s definitely much faster.

Day 1: My new Apple TV

After mainly playing around with the Siri remote for the first day, I realised that it was time to dive into the App Store.

I decided to head over and check out what it has to offer. To my surprise there were really much more than I expected and even games I knew from the iOS Store.

Another surprise was really how quickly I got used to the new remote and because Apple has thought about making the buttons on the remote differently, you can actually feel which one is the “Siri button” without looking down. I like these often unnoticed little details that the designers have thought about.

Day 2: More Apps and the screensaver
