Been a Long Time

It’s been a long time since I’ve really held you. Or walked alone with you along the streets of our city. Fell asleep together on a bus trip back home. Or kissed each other goodnight with a full moon shining on the river.

Now we’re left staring up at the stars and texting each other goodnight. Like the old couple we are, we’re set in our ways and we lead very different lives. But do we really? We both care for the one’s we love and would do anything make them happy.

Yet here we are, working for the good of others. Doing what we can to keep ourselves together. But are broken promises enough? Are dreams thrown away ever found again? All I want is to see you really smile again. If we never touch again that would be okay. Just as long as I believe you are really happy.
