Dr. Dennis Scotti set to retire at the end of the Fall ’22 semester — a look back on his contributions to the FDU Silberman community

Dr. Dennis Scotti

Silberman College of Business’s very own Dr. Dennis Scotti is set to retire at the end of the Fall 2022 semester. As a professor at FDU beginning in 1983 up until 2022, Dr. Scotti has left a lasting impact on the FDU community. Dr. Scotti has served as an instructor on both the undergraduate and graduate level, teaching courses such as Health Systems and Policy, Managing Value in Healthcare, Organizational Behavior, and Leadership, as well as Strategic Management, to name a few. Beyond the classroom, Dr. Scotti has remained an active member of the FDU community providing service to the university by serving on various committees, task forces, advisory, and review boards throughout his career.

During his career, Dr. Scotti has been honored with various awards for both professional and academic achievements. Most recently, Dr. Scotti received the 2022 FDU Transformational Excellence Award (Student Success & Retention). Dr. Scotti’s nomination for this particular award was the result of

“…Transforming instructional design through the use of technology to enhance online learning and student retention during the COVID-19 pandemic”

as mentioned by Dr. Scotti. His hard work has extended beyond FDU as proven through his rather impressive resume. While serving as an educator and researcher, Dr. Scotti has also worked within various healthcare and life sciences organizations as a consultant. As best explained by Dr. Scotti, his research has centered around healthcare strategic management and policy, organization theory and behavior, and cost-effectiveness analysis of medical innovations. Additionally, Dr. Scotti has earned numerous certifications related to healthcare management and holds membership in the American College of Healthcare Executives, the Healthcare Financial Management Association, and the Academy of Management.

In 2018, Dr. Scotti was named a Lifetime Achiever by Marquis Who’s Who, the world’s premier publisher of biographical profiles. Dr. Scotti also held the prestigious Alfred E. Driscoll endowed professorship in healthcare and life sciences management here at FDU.
