The Accounting, Taxation & Law Department at FDU’s Silberman College of Business is pleased/excited to announce that it will begin offering a cooperative program in which students in the 4+1 Master’s in Accounting program (MSA) will earn the MSA degree while gaining invaluable work experience.

The cooperative program will provide students with the ability to substantially alleviate the cost of the MSA program. Students in the program will be compensated while working, plus receive a generous tuition reimbursement, all while gaining the experience and academic credits to succeed on the CPA exam. The program is designed to meet the 150-credit requirement for licensure.

Participants work for an accounting firm in the summer before beginning their master’s degree. They then work part-time in the fall while taking courses to complete their classroom-based academic credits, and then in spring begin working full-time with the firm. Students earn 12 credits towards the MSA through their work experience. A master's thesis is required. Another 18 credits will be comprised of advanced MSA courses that will help prepare them for the CPA exam.

Our first CPA cooperative partner is Wiss and Company, LLP, a leading regional accounting firm. Students eligible to participate in the first cohort of the cooperative program are ones accepted into the 4+1 program when they enter their senior year in the Fall of 2024.
