But the man who had been healed did not know who it was, for Jesus had slipped out, since there was a crowd in that place.

John 5:13 (emphasis added)

Healing doesn’t save you. It isn’t something that is just for the church or the Body of Christ. It isn’t specifically for the Jew or the Gentile. This isn’t something that has any pickiness to it. If you have trust that Jesus provided healing, you can be healed. If you have trust that when healing arrives it does so because Jesus provided it, you can be healed. That’s it. Trust (or faith, if you’d prefer that word) is all that is required for healing when it is trust in Jesus and His works (already accomplished). By our FAITH we are healed. Jesus was very clear about it when He was ministering here on earth (Mark 5:34 and Luke 18:42–43 for example).

Healing accompanies teaching the Word. “Then Jesus went throughout all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the good news of the kingdom, and healing every kind of disease and sickness” (Matthew 9:35). “But when the crowds found out, they followed him. He welcomed them, spoke to them about the kingdom of God, and cured those who needed healing” (Luke 9:11). They went together when Jesus sent out His disciples too. “After Jesus called the twelve together, he gave them power and authority over all demons and to cure diseases, and he sent them out to proclaim the kingdom of God and to heal the sick” (Luke 9:1–2). The Word has the power to heal. “He sent them an assuring word and healed them; he rescued them from the pits where they were trapped” (Psalm 107:20). “My child, pay attention to my words; listen attentively to my sayings. Do not let them depart from your sight; guard them within your heart, for they are life to those who find them and healing to one’s entire body” (Proverbs 4:20–22).

Often we think of healing as something that comes after salvation. Get someone saved. Get them going to church. Get them loving on Adonai. And then maybe they get healed. The truth is though, that Yahweh never tagged healing to salvation. Healing is provided because it is the Nature of Adonai. Adonai is LIFE abundantly. Sickness is not life. Sickness is death in stages. No thanks for that! Healing is dependent on one thing and one thing alone: TRUST IN JESUS. That’s it. ANYONE can trust that Jesus can heal. You might not believe all that other stuff, but to believe that He can and will heal you? We are all so desperate to be well that we can ALL believe THAT.

Healing is a light. A signpost. A directional arrow pointing to Adonai. It is a sign that Jesus doesn’t lie. Someone who is saved ALREADY knows that Jesus IS truth. They don’t need a signpost. Maybe a reminder that healing is for now — but the WORD gives that reminder. Healing attracts people who want the health that we have. The Word brings healing. The Word builds faith. The Word is also the way we’re pointed to Jesus who points us to the Father. Jesus taught the Word so that the people would be ready to come to Him when He enabled us to receive salvation. The Word plants a seed inside us (Mark 4:1–9). That’s when it goes to work for our salvation. “So put away all filth and evil excess and humbly welcome the message implanted within you, which is able to save your souls” (James 1:21).

We need to accept the fact that someone doesn’t need to know Jesus to be healed. They only need to trust Him. They won’t be able to build that trust without the Word. It is the WORD that activates and strengthens our trust (faith). Trust comes by hearing the Word of Adonai (Romans 10:17). If we preach the Word, we are preaching healing. If we say it can be, then we need to believe that it can be. If we don’t have this word stored in our hearts then it will not be available when it comes time to use it. Holy Spirit can’t bring out of us what we haven’t put inside of us, because His mission is to remind us of all Jesus has said to us (John 14:26). He teaches us through what we have already put inside us. He helps us activate what we have put in. You can’t bake the bread if you never put the dough in the oven.

We need to speak the unvarnished truth of the Word. Yahweh IS the God Who Heals (Exodus 15:26). Healing was accomplished by Jesus on and through the cross, the shedding of His blood and the breaking of His body (1 Peter 2:24). It is not just a spiritual healing, but also a physical one (Matthew 8:16–17). It was released through His ordeal, and it is available for everyone, everywhere, always (Hebrews 13:8). You don’t need to be one of the Twelve or an apostle to have the Father heal through you by the power of Holy Spirit. Ordinary people can, will, and are used by the Father to have His will on healing come to pass (Acts 6:8). You don’t have to be saved to be healed (Matthew 8:5–13). Everyone who trusts that Jesus CAN and DOES and WILL heal, can be healed (Matthew 15:26–28). But how do they trust? “How are they to call on one they have not believed in? And how are they to believe in one they have not heard of? And how are they to hear without someone preaching to them? And how are they to preach unless they are sent? As it is written, “How timely is the arrival of those who proclaim the good news.”” (Romans 10:14–15). Proclaim the Word, the rest will follow as the planted Word goes to work.

The Word is true. Healing is for always. Healing is for everyone. Jesus HEALS. Even if you don’t know His name.

Daily Affirmation Jesus IS Messiah: Psalm 31:14–15

But I trust in you, O Lord! I declare, “You are my God!” You determine my destiny. Rescue me from the power of my enemies and those who chase me.” Messiah would be marked by an absolute trust in Yahweh. Regardless of the circumstances He found Himself in, His trust would not waiver. “He trusts in God — let God, if he wants to, deliver him now because he said, ‘I am God’s Son’!” (Matthew 27:43). Even Jesus’ enemies recognised His trust in Yahweh. They used it as a tool to mock Him, but they spoke truth. Jesus DID trust in His Father. Jesus DID proclaim Himself God’s Son. Jesus WAS rescued from the power of His enemies — though they didn’t recognise it. Jesus IS the Messiah!
