Larry Mullen Jr. To Appear on Alice Cooper’s new album
Alice Cooper has revealed that his new album Paranormal will feature guest appearances from ZZ Top’s Billy Gibbons, three members of his original group, and U2’s Larry Mullen Jr. on drums.
A few reports in January said Larry was spotted at The Basement East in Nashville during a surprise show with Alice Cooper during the time he was recording the album.
According to Ultimate Classic Rock, Cooper reported that it was Eddie Trunk, from the Trunk Nation show, who suggested recruiting Larry: “That’s a great idea,” Cooper said he told Eddie. “It’ll change things up so much, just on the basic track.”
Cooper said Larry had a surprising way to prepare for the collaboration, asking to see the lyrics of the songs he was working on. “I play to the lyrics, I don’t play to the bass,” Larry said, according to Cooper.
Cooper liked Larry’s technique: “And I said that is so cool, just the idea that you’re interpreting the lyrics on the drums. It totally makes the album another album.”
Paranormal hits stores in July.
