Success is a New Year Resolution shared by all. But it is also a long, strenuous, time demanding and challenging goal that we not always manage to reach. So, imagine it as embarking on a mountain climb, with the beginning of the year serving as your Base Camp. Here, you’ll chart your strategy to conquer the peak of success. Trust us; you can’t afford to skimp on preparation at this stage. Base Camp is where all the crucial decisions are made, designed to prevent potential setbacks on your ascent. After all, who wants to find themselves caught in a snowstorm halfway up the mountain because they didn’t plan adequately?

If you’ve ever made the mistake of diving headfirst into your goals without strategising at Base Camp, you probably know the perils and errors that result from a lack of preparation.

Our mountain-climbing analogy extends beyond just reaching the summit; it embodies all ambitious projects that demand vision, hard work, and unwavering determination. These are the “Frog Leap Projects” that can’t be conquered with a few baby steps but require one giant leap of faith. They call for dedication and the ability to weather the storm, even when the weather is against you.

In our daily lives, there’s a prevailing notion that if you’re not making a quick profit from your investments or projects, you’re merely an amateur. So we often prioritise short-term gains over long-term goals to gain approval and recognition. Picture two climbers’ futures: one who spends weeks at Base Camp meticulously planning every step and the other who dashes off from the starting line. While the latter might seem to have a head start, they might not get far; it’s the former who’s more likely to reach the mountain peak.

We’re frequently so fixated on showcasing progress and earnings that we forget to pause and reflect on our actions and thoughts. How many times have you said, “I need more time to learn and plan; before I rush ahead, I must take a step back and gain understanding”?

Some may argue that this introspective approach is a waste of time that could be better spent working or advancing projects. However, it’s crucial to remember that “Ready, Fire, Aim!” often falls short compared to “Ready, Aim, Fire!”

So, as we dive into 2024, let’s not rush blindly into action but rather take a moment to aim precisely at our targets before we fire. It’s the surefire way to make this year a successful one.

Happy New Year,
- Federico
