What do you have to say about Clinton being against gay marriage until around 2013? Yes, she began shifting from being pretty anti-gay marriage from 2003 to 2013 but compare that to Bernie Sanders. He declared a day for the celebration of gay rights in Burlington as mayor DECADES before Clinton even said “No.” when asked if she would allow gay marriage in New York and you see a pretty stark contrast.
What do you have to say about the fact that even under Obamacare, which Clinton plans to expand, millions of Americans are under insured and to this day, 70% of medical bankruptcies occur to individuals who ARE insured.
What do you have to say about the fact that HRC has accepted tens of millions from Wall Street? Well, actually you counter this point in your article and it essentially boils down to “Well Obama accepted more shill money and the billionaires corrupting our political system are concentrated in her district so she should be given leeway.” Weak argument.
Too lazy to read the rest of your essay because I’m sure the arguments are just as weak as your main ones. What I get from most HRC supporters is that they’re not willing to allow America to delve into a debate to get the systems in place that this country needs (single-payer healthcare, serious campaign reform, etc.) I think Thomas Jefferson said it best in this quote: “ “Nothing in the world is worth having or worth doing unless it means effort, pain, difficulty.”
It’s very easy to be a contrarian and support HRC because her policies are “pragmatic” or “doable” but you’re missing the main point of Sanders’ campaign. He isn’t your ordinary presidential candidate. Bernie Sanders’ campaign is more than just him, its a revolution. The job isn’t over when he’s elected but rather the fight will only begin WHEN he is. I personally don’t think HRC is a terrible candidate (if all the candidates were pro-establishment).If someone other run-of the mill establishment shill was running against her I’d even vote for her. The time for candidates who blather on about promises is over. You can elect HRC (essentially Obama 2.0) and continue the trend of having a senile president who lets our political system delve into further corruption or vote for Sanders and sign on for the revolution. Your choice.
