About Me

My professional website is up and running and while all of the necessary pieces are there, it feels a bit wooden.

For years I did not want to be Google-able. Most of my online spaces are on lock down and the rest are curated.

I would search myself from time to time to see if anything private leaked out or if any unflattering pictures wound their way to the public eye. (I am not proud of this vanity. It’s lengthy and insidious and I’m leaning into it vs. privately denying it- because I risk this vanity turning into concrete.)

Anyway, nothing ever found it’s way to Google except being employee of the month at the agency I worked at in San Francisco and a 2006 photo of me with a double chin having the time of life with my nearest and dearest at our beloved bar.

Now, late, for the first time in my life, I have to consider analytics and search results, and concern myself with getting on top of the pile when I enter my name in the box.

In the tons of research I did to open my practice, many sources referred to your website as your waiting room, as the searching and researching preferences of all of us have shifted into an online space (YEARS ago. :) )

I’m not quite satisfied with my About Me, and since I feel more comfortable writing personal things in personal spaces, I’m going to give it about shot here:

My name is Felicia Less and I’m a marriage and family therapist. I recently moved to Chicago for the adventure of a new city and to be closer to family.

I became a therapist after working successfully in the private sector for many years. Many aspects of my initial career trajectory worked and were enjoyable, though everything changed after my own experience of loss and I decided to make a shift and focus on what I found most enjoyable and most important — connecting with and being of service to other humans.

Through my own experience of therapy, I learned about the transformative effect of compassion and unconditional connection, and that in this space there is infinite potential for growth and change, bravery and vulnerability.

My approach is warm, non-directive, and client-centered. I view therapy as a partnership and together we focus on goals of your choosing. I believe that the role of a therapist is to shine a light on those shadowy places within ourselves that may otherwise be difficult or uncomfortable to get to.

I acknowledge that seeking therapy can be a huge decision and I understand that it may have taken some time or effort to get here.

Please give me a call for a complimentary 15 minute consultation so we may discuss my fee and availability, and how I may support you through therapy.

That definitely feels more authentic.

Effing Google.
