We’re hiring a Head of Delivery and Head of Development to join our Business Development Team at Addaction. These roles might not be exactly what you’re expecting, so here’s some more detail about why we’re recruiting — and why it’s a great time to join us.

Addaction is at a really exciting time in its history.

We want to transform the way that we work and make a real difference to the lives of people we support and we want to be radical and ambitious in how we do this. We’re trying new approaches to how we think about and deliver our services and how we share our work. We’re thinking about how we work together to get the best from each other across the organisation. We’ve got big aspirations and an appetite for change.

Within the Business Development Team, we’re ready to realise this ambition

Our Business Development team is a national team who develop opportunities to retain, develop and grow our services so that we can help more people and improve our impact. We build networks and partnerships, conduct research into trends, user needs and what’s happening in the markets we work in and design and develop services to present in bids for commissioners in local authorities and healthcare.

This year, we’ve put a lot of thought into how we structure ourselves and we’ve transformed the way we work with design and agile methodologies. But we’re early in our maturity.

We want to step away from tradition and work more in the open, continually learning and improving and both within the team and across the whole organisation. We want to make the experience and needs of the people who use our services more visible, use these to shape solutions using methods like observation, research and co-design and present ideas through engaging content. And we aim to use the very best digital tools and working practices to manage our time and resources and support collaboration across remote locations.

We’ve got an incredible mix of experience and skills across a national team, including:

  • Bid Writers who articulate and promote the amazing work and experiences from our front line services and deliver written content for our tenders;
  • Business Development Partners who lead research, market engagement and design of our services through to tender and implementation;
  • Business Development Officers who track opportunities and coordinate the team.
User Journey Mapping Team Day: Summer 2018

We are now looking for two people who can lead and support the team to really embed this way of working.

Both heads of posts will play critical roles in leading and mentoring the team

Head of Delivery — This person will be able to drive the quality, consistency and impact of our written tender submissions. They will help us articulate what we do, why it works and makes a difference, and understand which opportunities we should prioritise. They’ll really understand how to showcase our work in the best light and be great coaches and editors.

Head of Development — This person will be able to improve and embed service design and user engagement across our service development and delivery, to get results. They will direct our product development pipeline, and be great at developing opportunities, networks and selling our services. They’ll be great at facilitation and mentoring others to work in this way.

Both roles will work closely with operational teams and directorates to achieve success from tendering and development of our offer.

We’ve got an amazing culture at Addaction

As well as my passion for the work we do, our culture is why I’ve been here for the best part of 14 years. The job descriptions and this post hopefully tell you more about the roles, but it’s so important that you care and are committed to what we do.

You’ll find an organisation where experimentation and ideas are encouraged. In return, we’re looking for someone who’ll roll their sleeves up, find what they need and get the job done. You’ll get a warm welcome to Addaction, be able to achieve lots and get bags of job satisfaction.

If you are interested in applying and want to know more, please take a look at the job descriptions or get in touch directly to talk.

Applications close 27 January 19
