Hi Dyslexia,
My name Felix A Castillo I was born in Dominican Republic November 19, 1983 meaning I am a proud 80's baby!
I arrived in New York City the Winter of 1992. The temperature must have been in the 20's or 30's because the first memory I had from my arrival was an 8 ball jacket my mother gave me. FYI, this jacket was the hit of the 90's!
Growing up in New York City in the 90's and being a dyslexic Latino was very challenging. Unfortunately, I was not diagnosed properly due to the lack of awareness of this particular learning disability. I was labeled “stupid” and “lazy” by teachers, counselors and even family members. This took a toll on me emotionally, mentally and even physically; it is something I struggle with even as an adult today.
Because of the above, I decided to start this blog. I would like to help and inspire others that might be going through this same struggle. Let’s learn how to live with dyslexia together!
P.s if you don’t ask for help, you cannot be helped.
