Please Ask Tech Leaders Meeting Trump Wednesday to Say “Table All Changes on Climate Action!”
Do you know any of these executives or their colleagues or families or friends? Now’s your best chance to to ask them to be courageous.
Now we know those meeting on Wednesday with Donald Trump include: Alphabet CEO Larry Page, Apple CEO Tim Cook, Cisco CEO Chuck Robbins, Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg, Intel CEO Brian Krzanich, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, Oracle CEO Safra Catz. And IBM CEO Ginni Rometti (also on the “President’s Strategic and Policy Forum”)
I have written directly or to top people at: Apple, Facebook, Google, Intel and Microsoft. Please use any or all of what I’ve sent if you can:
Thanks for EVERYTHING you’ve done at your company to show the way we need to go.
I’m reaching out now only because on this pre-eminent issue you and others meeting with Trump have a unique opportunity to make a difference. I’m not naive about your chances for success but that doesn’t keep me from asking.
And if you fail publicly, that can change national understanding and inspire people and groups to action.
Here’s the summary of my OpEd in today’s print edition of the San Jose Mercury News Kramer: Climate change should be top tech topic with Trump.
Corporate executives who get the urgency of climate change are at a life-defining moment. Will they speak honestly, bravely, publicly?
They can try to get through to Trump to say the risks are too great; we must keep our commitments and momentum to protect our futures.
In my fantasies, the whole group — or a few — or even only you — will raise the critical issue first thing at the meeting. Failing that, it’s the first thing I urge you to talk about publicly afterwards.
Hopefully thanking you in advance. Regards, Felix Kramer, Founder, Climate.MBA
