I’m not a sleeper

Insomnia by Alyssa L. Miller

I’m a waker.

Normally around 6, often at 5, always before 7. On bad days way before. And once I’m awake, I’m awake. Nigh on impossible to fall back to sleep. As a consequence, I’m often incredibly tired, drained of energy for days on end.

What I DON’T understand is the sleepers who complain about sleeping TOO MUCH as if it’s in any way comparable to barely any sleep.

“I overslept today, I feel awful”

I mean, OK, I get it. Some people wake up slowly and are in some sort of half-waking state for quite some time. But don’t try and tell someone who you know gets DAYS less sleep than you in the year that it’s comparable to practically no sleep.

I’d bite their heads off but I’m too fucking tired.
